REVIEW: After All

Ilya Tovbis | Flavorpill | September 2008

In Erika Chong Shuch's latest menagerie of surreal imagery and experimental dance, the Bay Area innovator stitches together dance miniatures — each piece is only three minutes long — that simultaneously reflect and engage our fast-paced world. These snippets are both moody and intellectual, cobbled together from scraps of song, theater, and dance. Shuch calls upon an impressive crop of local talent to fill out her dreamscapes, with dancer and choreographer Joe Goode, director Sean San Jose, and writers Octavio Solis, Michelle Carter, and Philip Kan Gotanda all contributing.
